Waivers
The DD Waiver Service Program
Wait List - How long is the waiting list for the DD Waiver?
If there are insufficient slots, eligible individuals are placed on a statewide waiting list and selected for slots as they come available in the order in which they came onto the waiting list (except in instances of emergency enrollment). There is a waiting list for DD Waiver slots at this time, and the current estimate is that it usually takes several years to move off the waiting list. For this reason, it is advisable to start the enrollment process early. Once you are on the waiting list, a letter will be sent out each year from DMAS informing you of the status of the waiting list as well as the status of assigning any new waiver slots.
The waiting list is divided into two levels, both are first come, first serve. Level one is for plan less than $25,000 and level two are for plans over $25,000. Your case manager will work with you on the plan of care that meets your needs.
An individual is placed on the waiting list once DMAS receives the screening paperwork AND the Plan of Care.
For information about the waiting list, please contact the DMAS Office for Freedom of Information Act at foia@dmas.virginia.gov, (804) 371-6391, or Fax at (804) 371-4981.
