W&OD Bike Trail

The Arc of Northern Virginia has adopted the Falls Church City portion of the W&OD bike trail and we need volunteers to help us "Keep America Beautiful"! The adopted portion of the trail is a one-mile stretch in the city of Falls Church between Lee Highway and Broad Street. This is an inclusive opportunity for individuals with and without developmental disabilities. This volunteer activity gives individuals with disabilities the chance to give back to their community and to learn the joy of participation and community action. It also gives participants without disabilities the opportunity to discover the interests and abilities they share with persons with disabilities. Volunteers of all ages are welcome but an adult must accompany children and groups composed of children younger than 16 years old.

Grass Roots Advocates

Grass Roots Advocates are citizens who volunteer time to help shape The Arc's local advocacy agenda in each jurisdiction and spread the word about our legislative and budget requests to local and state policymakers. We need energetic leaders who will speak at public hearings, participate on local and state task forces and advisory groups, visit legislators, and mobilize self-advocates and families to take action on important issues.
